John Hierseman "Hersh" has had a lifelong passion for fishing. This was passed down from his grandfather Paul, to his dad Gerald, and to John. He shares that passion with those that fish with him, including his 5 kids. John is also a former football coach which has helped make him a good teacher. He's a multi-species angler, but specializes in largemouth and smallmouth bass, hybrid stripers, panfish and muskies. If you have a preference he'll chase those, but if not he'll take you to what's biting the best!
Hersh offers a variety of guided fishing trips to cater to all skill levels and preferences. Whether you're a seasoned angler looking for a challenge or a beginner looking to learn the basics, he's got you covered. He has 2 hour "take a kid fishing trips" for $150, 4 hour half day/evening trips for $250, and full 7-8 hour day trips for $400. 1-2 people (3rd person is an additional $50). $50 deposit to hold date with 48 hour cancellation refund policy.
All fishing gear, lures/bait, and life jackets are provided. Things to bring: valid fishing license, appropriate clothing for the elements, sunscreen, sunglasses, rain gear (we will fish in the rain but not lightning), snacks and drinks.
Hersh guides on the waters of Eastern Iowa, in particular Lake Macbride, Pleasant Creek, Coralville, Lost Grove and Hawthorne. Minnesota trips are also available to the Leech Lake, Hackensack and Longville area lakes. This area has a special place in his heart as his family vacations were always to this area as a kid and it is where his love for fishing was born.
